The Wye and Brook India Trust
The Wye and Brook India Trust
Founded 1978 – Registered Charity 288217
Your donation will give the opportunity of
education to poor children in Delhi.
The Aims of the Trust
The Wye and Brook India Trust was founded in 1978 after the first of many visits to India by the late Canon David Marriott while he was Vicar of the Parishes of Wye and Brook.
The Trust provides money to sponsor the education of children whose parents would not otherwise be able to afford it. Education is provided by schools in Delhi run by the Christian Foundation of the Delhi Brotherhood Society. The two main schools, which together have over 900 pupils, are in the slum districts of Seemapuri and Shahid Nagar on the outskirts of the city. The Brotherhood, which has at its core four Christian Fathers, also undertakes a range of other social projects.
Since its inception the scheme has supported over 800 children.
The Work of the Trust
Any pupil supported by the Trust who achieves an appropriate standard has the option of enrolling on a vocational course that provides training in a suitable trade, or of continuing higher education.

How Can You Help?
Donors include churches, schools, and youth groups, as well as individuals.
Any gift to support this worthwhile work is welcome. A contribution of £50 goes some way towards paying for the school fees, a simple school uniform, and books for one child for a year.
Donations may be made to sponsor an individual child or allocated to the general funds supporting the schools.
Some donations are a one-off gift, but many are made on a regular basis.
Please download the standing oder and gift aid forms – they are in a pdf file format and require a browser such as Adobe Reader that you can get for free from the Internet.
Donors receive two regular mailings per year including the Annual Report of the Trust and a copy of the accounts.
Those who have chosen to sponsor an individual child will also receive a simple case history of the child’s family background, a photograph of the child, and progress reports from the school.

Gift Aid
Donors who are current UK Income Tax payers are encouraged to make gifts under the Gift Aid Scheme. This enables us to reclaim tax for every £1 donated, at no cost to the donor. Please sign and return the Gift Aid form supplied if you wish to use this opportunity.
Administration Costs
Much of the work of the Trust is undertaken by volunteers so that administration costs are minimised, at less than 2% of income. The use of bank standing orders reduces administration costs, and forms are supplied for those who wish to use them.
The Challenges
The need is constantly growing. Delhi is home to millions of disadvantaged people, and continues to attract poor migrant families and many children without families. The “Slumdog Millionaire” is not a story of uniqueness.
We welcome more donors in order to meet the challenge to help provide educational opportunities for these children through the work of the Brotherhood.
In the words of the founder
‘the strength which most of these children give to their families is apparent to any visitor’
