The Wye Bonfire Society are currently delivering the letter below around our Village and also to Brook.
We are told by a Wye resident that although the Crown Bonfire was hosted by Wye College for many years. It originally began as a Village initiative during Gala Week back in the late 1940′s. Soon after about eighteen students got involved and the event then worked its way under the College umbrella. There had however been other bonfires organised by the Village on such occasions as George V, George VI and Queen Elizabeth II’s Coronations.
Many have expressed a wish to keep this tradition going, which is why the Wye Bonfire Society has been formed to continue the work that those original Villagers and Students kick started all those years ago.

Hello everyone,
Yes it’s that time of year again thank goodness and I’m pleased to say that this Saturday at the Farmers Market we have the “Oyster Morris” group visiting us from Canterbury, who will be battling it out against their guests “Rippon City Morris.” Dancing will start at about 10.15. For the children we also have the bouncy castle back by popular demand.
Hope to see you there!

The trees in Wye at around 6pm were lit by the sun as if for a stage set.
This was the evening in Wye after a glorious sunny April Sunday which was a real bonus in the light of the fact the weather forecast said rain!
These photographs are especially for Mrs Daphne Yeomans a regular Wyeweb reader. Mrs Yeomans informs us that she enjoys our photographs of Wye.
