Wye Dog Training

Published by Ann Sutherland under About Wye

Tuesday nights down at Wye Village Hall is a very busy night indeed. The Gefion Dog Training Club run various classes throughout the evening starting 6.30pm with the puppy class. Other classes follow training dogs to enter the bronze, silver and gold tests. These are all carried out to Kennel Clubs standards.

If you want to have a nice social dog this is really the way to do it. They meet many other dogs and get used to them. It’s also a good way of making new friends. People from both Wye and afar come to our Village Hall to train their pooches.

Two of the trainers (Dee and Sally) are from Wye. Dee made it to Crufts this year with one of her lurchers in the obedience class. We don’t have to aim so high, just having a friendly reasonably obedient dog is satisfying. Lorna and Stephen Fryer (Lorna is a trainer) run the Ashford Branch of Guide Dogs for the Blind. Through them a group of us from the Wye Dog Training Club went along to support their Guide Dogs Dog Show at the Willesborough Windmill on August Bank Holiday Monday. We met like minded people, shared our experiences and had fun in the ring. The Windmill was in action and their cafe was open. An excellent venue. (The Windmill gave our Crown a plug not so long ago now it’s our turn to reciprocate!.)

At Wye Dog Training one is introduced to other aspects of training elsewhere, such as agility, fun days etc If you wish to give it a try, just popping in for a look is welcomed. For details contact: Ron & Teresa Mills 01233 758309

Living Memories

Published by Ann Sutherland under About Wye

May we draw your attention to a new section on wyeweb. Go to the top of the page and click on ‘About Wye’ Then click on ‘Wye Memories’. Here you will find a dialogue which has got well under way. This all started with the article ‘Daylight Robbery’ featuring a picture of the College Cottages in Olantigh Road. Kieth and Francis Eyles from New Zealand came on the site as Francis had lived in one of these cottages as a child. It all went from there. Where ever you are in the world be it Wye or some far away place. If you have a memory of Wye then we would loved to hear from you!

Setting Sun Ends a Perfect Wye Day

Published by Ann Sutherland under About Wye

There won’t be many more evening dog  walks in Sky Lark Meadow as it gets darker earlier . Tonight’s walk just allowed us to see the sunset which went down rapidly behind the Challock hills.
