90TH ANNIVERSARY ARMISTICE DAY
1918-2008

IN NOVEMBER 2008, IT WILL BE 90 YEARS SINCE THE
SIGNING OF THE ARMISTICE ON NOVEMBER 11TH 1918
TO END THE GREAT WAR.

TO MARK THIS SIGNIFICANT DATE, ON OCTOBER 8TH 2008
A COACH WILL LEAVE WYE CHURCH AT 7.30 AM AND
TRAVEL TO THE NEW MUSEUM AT PASSENDAAL FLANDERS
TO ARRIVE AT MIDDAY, AND VIEW THE BATTLEFIELDS AND
MEMORIALS IN ITS VICINITY. THE COACH WILL RETURN TO
WYE BY 8.00 PM IN THE EVENING.

LUNCH CAN BE TAKEN IN THE CAFETERIA AT THE MUSEUM

COST FOR TRAVEL BY POYNTERS COACH WILL BE £30.00.

Families faced with soaring food bills

People are reacting to the increase in food prices by raising more vegetables in their gardens, allotments and even in window boxes. Vegetable seed sales are now outstripping flower seeds for the first time since we were told to Dig for Victory in the Second World War. And a new generation gap is becoming apparent – between older gardeners who favour traditional veg, and the younger end who are more interested in rocket, mange tout and purple sprouting broccoli.
