Britains Got Talent Finds Wye’s Got Talent!

Published by Ann Sutherland under About Wye

Steve Wright Chairman of ‘Wye’s Got Talent’ can be forgiven for breaking into song and dance himself. Steve has received a call from one of the producers of ‘Britains Got Talent’ who informed him that he wants to come down to Wye to see the talent Wye has to offer at the show to be held in the Church on October 9th!

This is amazing news for Wye’s Got Talent and it’s show contestants. The publicity given to this event has been none other than truely professional. It is the first time that a Village event has had its own website.

For more news go to : http://www.wyesgottalent.com/

The Wyes Got Talent Team met on Saturday in the Church to pull together the logistics of putting on the show.

For details Contact Steve Wright on: 07841568865

Tickets for the Show can be purchased either from Wye News, Ticketyboo, direct from Steve or at the Farmers Market.

Wye Market hosts Two Morris Sides

Thanks to Jen Porter and her boundless energy we were entertained once again to Morris Dancing at Wye Farmers Market. This is the third year that wyeweb has been able to record the music and dance and, like all over the other records of our life in Wye, the videos will form part of our archive. However, this year we had several surprises. Firstly the Oyster Morris (and not Oystermouth as I mistakenly called them, that’s the Welsh coming out in me), who hail from Whitstable, were joined by the Kettle Bridge Clogs who are based in Maidstone. Secondly we were able to interview a representative from each side to tell us something about their own societies and something about the history of Morris Dancing.

Anyone wishing to find out more can visit www.oystermorris.org.uk or www.kettlebridgeclogs.org.uk.

Thanks again to the Farmers Market for contributing to our weekend and wasn’t the weather great?

And the Result is……….

Published by Editor under About Wye

On Friday night Nick Williams Chairman of the Wye Community Group called a meeting of his Summer Fayre Committee at the Kings Head. Glasses were raised in celebration when Nick announced that the Fayre had made a profit of £3,000 !

Nick has asked wyeweb to convey the following:

”Thank you everyone who helped at the Fayre  and also to all those who responded to our appeal for prizes for both the raffle and the tombola.

The £3,000 raised is an amazing result achieved by the  great input in various ways and forms  from our community.’

Didn’t Wye Do Well?

Only the brave would have predicted at the end of a terrible August that the Saturday of Wye Fayre would have dawned fair. But dawn fair it did and, thanks to many hands and many hours the village came alive for a communal get-together that we hope will be repeated annually. Here, rather belatedly, we have a few more memories in the form of video clips. The clips , although edited are rather long so please be patient when downloading. As usual we apologise for any technical shortcomings.

Thanks again to all who made it so enjoyable.
Don’t forget Farmers’ Market and Morris Dancing this coming weekend.

Wye needs the youngsters and there were many of them too.

Ann prayed for fine weather and some even danced to stop the rain.
